We wish to advise that at our Annual General Meeting held on the 17th October 2020, the membership of the Child Health Association Tasmania (CHAT) made a resolution to begin a rebrand process of the Organisation with the primary objective to: Deliver a broadly accepted, appropriate new name and brand that clearly defines what CHAT does and is recognisable and relevant to the Tasmanian context.
To reach this resolution the CHAT recently undertook a stakeholder audit of the organisation, conducted by Timmins Ray Public Relations. This has proved a valuable exercise for the organisation and will provide important insights for future strategic planning, to ensure the organisation can best meet the needs of Tasmanian Families, within its capacity. The CHAT Board wishes to extend its sincere thanks to members and stakeholders who kindly participated.
Following this extensive stakeholder and community engagement process, the CHAT Board, and subsequently the membership, has made the decision to rebrand and rename the organisation to better represent who it is today and ensure it is able to deliver services that meet the evolving needs of Tasmanian families both now and into the future. The stakeholder audit found that, among its members, key stakeholders and the wider community, there is significant support for CHAT to be renamed and characterised with branding that brings together all its service offerings in a cohesive way.
It has been broadly recognised that, while a fitting acknowledgement of what it did in the past, ‘Child Health Association Tasmania’ is a name that does not fully reflect the holistic work that the organisation does today and is often confused with other service providers. It is our intention that, by renaming and rebranding CHAT, we will position the organisation to better meet the needs and expectations of Tasmanian families. CHAT has played a critical role advocating for, and supporting, children’s health for over a century—and will continue to do this for decades to come, with a renewed focus on providing services that support and empower the whole family to live healthy and well lives.
CHAT will now work with the community to find a fitting name for the organisation that is relevant, recognisable—and importantly—representative of who we are and what we do. It is worth noting that a new name would include a tag line with our key values: Playful, Inclusive, Support, Connection.
On Tuesday 20th October 2020 we will launch an online poll that seeks to engage our volunteers, members, life members and supporters to offer their suggestions for a new name and/or vote for their favourite option. This poll will remain open for approximately 2 weeks. Following this a date will be set for a Special General Meeting of the organisation and announcement date and launch event will be planned for Jan 2021. We will be back in touch with further details of the process and look forward to inviting you to our launch celebration in the new year.
